Sister school agreement was signed in Chengdu

A sister relationship agreement-signing ceremony between Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School West Campus (CDEFLSWC) and Berkshire Country Day School (BCD) from MA, US was held On March 20^th in Chengdu. Mr. Wen Ruizheng, the principal of CDEFLSWC and Mr. Robert Peterson, head of BCD School, signed the agreement on behalf of the two schools respectively.

High rank officials and local dignities including Mr. Jiang Xianlun, vice mayor of chengdu; Mr. Zhou Jian, deputy director of Municipal Educational Bureau; Mr. Yan Yude, Chairman of De Rui group attended the ceremony and extended warm congratulations to the sister relationship of the two schools.

Mr. Jiang Xianlun, the vice mayor, appraised the education exchange between CDEFLSW and U.S school as a “new milestone”. “The exchange program between two schools can be seen as a sign which indicates a new stage of the mutual understanding between our two countries”, he said.  Mr. Peterson, head of BCD, during his speech after the ceremony, said that the long traditional of academic excellence has successfully shortened the physical distance between two sister schools.

In October, 2005, a group of 8 Chinese students and two teachers from CDEFLSWC paid a visit to Lenox, MA during a 17-day long cultural and educational exchange program. They received warm reception and hospitality of the school and the community. During the 17 days, Chinese students stayed with the host families, went to school and also attended classes and school activities with host students. Academic excellence of the two schools and the high-quality of the students had left both sides deep impression. The trip, as the first phase of the exchange program, started the cross-culture communication and also displayed to our colleagues in the Sates the progresses and accomplishments our schools had made in recent years. As the second phase of the exchange, the delegation from BCD paid their visit to CDEFLSWC and to Chengdu last week. The agreement-signing ceremony symbolized the start-up of the all-round cooperation in culture, education, student exchange and other aspects between the two sister schools.

Berkshire Country Day School is an independent school located in Lenox, Massachusetts. It was founded 60 years ago. Since then the school has grown to its present size of 300 students occupying two campuses and enrolled in 15 grades. BCD is a traditional college preparatory school with its graduates enrolling in some the countries finest colleges and universities. The school’s fine education has won itself a great reputation in Berkshire County.
