                       Mourning for the earthquake victims

Teachers and students of Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School West Campus gathered together and mourned for the victims of the powerful earthquake which struck the country's southwest on May 19th, 2008.

The Chinese national flag was lowered to half-mast on the campus after the flag-raising ceremony with three minutes of silence began at 2:28 p.m., the time the magnitude 8.0 earthquake hit on May 12.

Teachers and students also made donation to the victims after the ceremony.

all public recreational activities have been suspended as China begins its three days of mourning from May 19.

Official figures (as of May 20, 14:00 CST) state that 34,074 are confirmed dead in the disaster.
