Enlighten
Students with traditional Chinese culture
As the only country with a literature written in one language for
more than 5,000 consecutive years, China has a very old and rich
tradition in literature. In addition to philosophical, religious,
and historical writings, China is active in creating brilliant
poetry, novels, and dramatic writings from an early date.
While philosophical writings from great
thinkers such as Confucius (551-479 BC) and Lao-tzu were often about
how people should act and how the society and political system
should be organized and operated, poetry, drama and other forms of
literature often center on themes such as nature, emotions and love.
In order to further preserve the broad and
profound Chinese culture and enable our students to further
comprehend the inter-relationship between literature, society and
culture, Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School West Campus
launched the activity of “Cultivate students with traditional
Chinese Culture” in March. By reading these brilliant and witty
lines from those classical works, students are doing their part to
inherit world views, sensibilities, and unique qualities from their
ancestors.
